Larry Elgart (1945–2020)
American jazz band leader. Recorded “Bandstand Boogie,” theme song for American Bandstand. Worked with Tommy Dorsey, Charlie Spivak, Woody Herman, Red Norvo, and Freddie Slack. Led The Les and Larry Elgart Orchestra with his brother. Had a huge hit on the Billboard pop charts in 1982 with “Hooked on Swing.
